Ngalnya Art

I am a proud Yorta Yorta artist, originally from Shepparton and now calling Naarm home since 2021. My work is rooted in cultural legacy, shaped by knowledge passed down through elders across generations.

This connection to my artwork is not just a creative pursuit. It is a vital link to my community and a cherished avenue for bonding with my family and mob. My art serves as a bridge between generations, a testament to my personal journey, and a vibrant reflection of Yorta Yorta culture.

Working with organisations on their Reconciliation Action Plans is deeply meaningful work. When a business chooses to walk this journey with an Indigenous artist, it creates something that goes beyond visual identity. It creates a lasting, visible connection to Country within your space and your story.

Each commission begins with genuine conversation. I take the time to understand your organisation's values, your reconciliation goals, and the story you want to tell. From there, the artwork becomes a true reflection of your commitment, woven together with the symbols and storytelling traditions of my Yorta Yorta heritage.

This example illustrates how a licenced artwork from the existing collection can be integrated meaningfully into a Reconciliation Action Plan. The existing design carries the same depth of cultural intention as a custom piece, grounded in First Nations tradition and Ngalnya's personal visual language. The Work

What Lives
Inside the Artwork

Every commissioned piece carries a rich language of symbolism drawn from First Nations tradition. The 2Construct RAP artwork is used here as a detailed example of what a full commission holds. Every element has been deliberately placed and carries a specific meaning.

01 The Background — Country
Element

The Background — Country

The background of each artwork is deeply connected to traditional land, with each brushstroke representing the layers of earth. Rich shades of orange, red, brown, and ochre reflect the natural beauty and history of Country. The red dirt symbolises the upper layer of the earth, the surface we walk upon. Darker tones below represent the deeper, unseen layers closer to the earth's core. This grounding in Country is the foundation from which all meaning in the artwork grows.

02 The Pathways
Element

The Pathways — Connection

The lines connecting the circles in the artwork represent the roads and pathways that trace a journey. They form a visual map of the places traveled and the experiences that have shaped both artist and client. These pathways symbolise the movement of resources, knowledge, and people, much like the trails once used by the traditional owners of this land. For your organisation, they speak to the journey of reconciliation itself: intentional, directional, and always moving forward.

03 The People Element
Element

The People Element — Relationships

The symbols lining the pathways represent the people met along a journey. Each symbol stands as a tribute to the lessons shared and the impact made. This imagery honours the connections formed and the wisdom gained from those who have crossed a path. In the context of your RAP, these symbols represent the communities, colleagues, and Traditional Owners who are part of your reconciliation story.

04 Three Circles and Long Neck Turtles
Element

Three Circles and the Long Neck Turtles

The circular patterns symbolise waterholes, reflecting the essence of the three rivers that flow through First Nations country: the Broken, the Goulburn, and the Murray. The long neck turtle is the totem of my people, represented three times: one for myself, one for my mother, and one for my father. Together these elements honour the lifeblood of the land and the bonds that carry culture forward across generations.

05
Cross-Hatch Linework
Element

Cross-Hatch Linework — Storytelling

This intricate patterning is traditional to the Aboriginal tribes I have been brought up around, and knowledge that has been passed down to me. For my First Nations people, this linework has long been a way to tell stories, passed down from elders through artwork. Each stroke carries the weight of history, culture, and knowledge, preserving heritage for future generations. When this element appears in your RAP artwork, it signals that your organisation's story is being held within a living tradition.

About the Artwork Booklet

Every Commission Includes
a Detailed Artwork Booklet

Each custom commission includes a professionally produced booklet that explains the story and symbolism behind every element in the artwork. This document becomes part of your RAP and gives your team, your stakeholders, and your community a deeper understanding of the cultural meaning your organisation has chosen to carry.

The booklet is written collaboratively and reflects both the artist's cultural knowledge and your organisation's unique journey. It is a resource your team can return to again and again.

How It Works

The Commission
Process

01

Initial Conversation

We begin with a genuine conversation about your organisation, your values, your reconciliation goals, and the story you want your RAP artwork to carry. This is the foundation everything else is built upon.

02

Concept Development

I develop an artwork concept that brings together your organisation's story and the visual language of my culture. This is a collaborative stage and your input shapes the direction.

03

Artwork Creation

The artwork is created digitally, with refinement and review built into the process. For Package Three commissions, the hand-painted canvas is produced from the finalised digital design.

04

Delivery and Booklet

You receive the final files, full documentation, and your detailed artwork booklet. For Package Three, delivery of the physical canvas is arranged to suit your timeline and location.
